Happy Earth Day 2020!
Well, it's been an incredible and unbelievable start to the year, one that hopefully, we'll only see parts of once in our lifetime.
But, as they say, "Every cloud has a silver lining" and in this case that silver lining is while the human race battles against Coronavirus COVID-19 Planet Earth and Mother Nature have been given a bit of a break.
It's befitting that during this break for our planet, we have Earth Day. A day where we should sit back and take a look at how amazing our planet really is and with great vitality, bounce back.
This by no means should be taken as a sign of we can do whatever and it will all be ok, but more a case of look at what we can accomplish by reducing emissions and stopping the damage that we are doing to our planet.
We have been given the opportunity to take a glimpse of what life could be like if we start to clean up our act.
Take for example:
Venice like it hasn't been seen for many, many years. I had the pleasure of going to Venice several years ago and one thing I do recall was how polluted it was, I would have loved to have been able to see it like this in all its raw beauty!
The Himalayas can be seen from parts of Indonesia for the first time in 30 years!
And then, what's not to love about seeing animals taking back the streets (well for now anyway!).
With the exception of monkeys going crazy in Thailand and wreaking havoc!
We just love the idea of animals roaming the streets, we just hope these images aren't all fake cause they're awesome!!
From goats taking over the streets in Wales, to tigers lazing around in South Africa and our absolute favourite a kangaroo in the streets of our own local Adelaide CBD!!
Last but not least, Skippy in the streets of Adelaide!
Now we've seen what a difference a change can make, let's take this "downtime" to start thinking about the improvements that we can make to start cleaning up our planet. Let's get the canals of Venice clean and free from pollution, let's make it so that we can see the Himalayas all year round!
